POSITION
Two post-doctoral positions are available to work in bioinformatics and computational biology in Weill Cornell Medical College (New York City).RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will contribute to the design and development of SigPath, an information management system to support quantitative studies of signaling pathways and networks (http://www.sigpath.org). This project is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between laboratories at Weill Cornell Medical College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Each successful applicant will work in the multidisciplinary and advanced computational environment of the Institute for Computational Biomedicine (http://icb.med.cornell.edu).REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should demonstrate strong computational skills (UNIX, detailed knowledge of at least one significant programming language, Java preferred). Preference will be given to candidates who can also demonstrate a good background in biology or chemistry.PREFERENCES
Software development and engineering skills, web-based technology, XML and database experience are a plus but can be learned as part of the post-doctoral training offered with this position.
Areas of scientific interest include: development of novel data representations for pathway information, information extraction from the literature, visualization and navigation of pathway information, quantitative models and simulation results.HOW TO APPLY
