    BACKGROUND:
    About Align Technology, Inc.
    http://www.invisalign.com

Align Technology, Inc., headquartered in Santa Clara, California, was founded in March 1997 to develop a new generation of high technology orthodontic products.

Align Technology's core product, Invisalign®, uses cutting-edge 3-D computer graphics technology to design and manufacture customized orthodontic appliances ("Aligners"). Align has already won two industry awards as a result of the design and production of Invisalign - the 2002 Medical Design Excellence Award and the 2001 Stereolithography Excellence Award. Developed as an alternative to conventional "wire-and-bracket" dental therapy, the Invisalign Aligners are virtually undetectable, easy-to-use and comfortable to wear.

The scientific concept behind using a series of customized removable appliances to treat a case from start to finish, first appeared in orthodontic literature in the 1940s. Align Technology leverages state-of-the-art computer technology to make this approach to dental therapy practical for the first time.
