JOB DESCRIPTION
The Bioinformatics Department at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, which is a member of the Swiss Institute of Bionformatics (maker of Swiss-Prot, Swiss Model, T-coffee, Expasy, etc.), is seeking a scientific research programmer/software engineer to work in close collaboration with scientists, designing and developing cutting-edge bioinformatics software tools. These tools will be used in conjunction with our existing computing cluster environment and our computing center.REQUIREMENTS
The candidate should have strong interests in bioinformatics research, an ability to work independently, and good communication skills. Prerequisites are a strong background in computer science, mathematics or physics, very good programming skills (C/C++/Java), and a good working knowledge of a Linux/Unix development environment. Knowledge of Perl/Python, web programming, databases (SQL), and statistics is desirable.HOW TO APPLY
