    DESCRIPTION

A PhD and a postdoc position are available in the recently established
Department of Bioinformatics at the University of Basel. We seek
highly motivated individuals interested in developing novel
computational models and tools to analyze genome-scale biological
data. The interests of our group revolve around computational studies
of mechanisms responsible for generating phenotypic diversity.

Current projects in our group include:
    (1) Detection of splice variants in eukaryotic transcriptomes and
inference of signals involved in the regulation of splicing,
    (2) Computational identification of transcriptional enhancers, and
    (3) Computational prediction of small regulatory RNAs.

    REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have the appropriate degree in computer science,
mathematics, physics, or biology. Strong quantitative abilities, good
programming skills (C/C++/Java), and familiarity with molecular
biology are required. Perl/Python programming, some knowledge of
databases and web programming are a plus.

    HOW TO APPLY
