    The bioinformaticists of SASTRA (Shanmuga Arts Science Technology & Research Academy) Deemed University, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India, are glad to organize a National Level Workshop on "Protein Modelling," Feb 21-23, 2004 (sponsored by AICTE & DBT).

    Workshop will cover presentations, demonstrations and hands on training on the following:
    • The present drug discovery scenario
    • Relevance of modelling in drug discovery projects
    • Various modelling approaches and methods
    • Molecular graphics environment
    • Tools for protein 3-D structure prediction
    • Threading and homology modelling
    • Template selection
    • Building the model
    • Structure validation
    • Loop and side chain building
    • Energy calculation and minimization
    • Docking and virtual drug screening
    Number of participants: 50 (first come, first served basis)

    Registration Fee: Rs. 750 (for academics)

    Registration fee includes working lunch, working manual + free software collection on open source molecular modelling.
