    The Sequence Manipulation Suite 2
Submitted by Paul Stothard; posted on Wednesday, January 28, 2004

The Sequence Manipulation Suite version 2 is available [1]. It is much faster than the previous version and contains several new programs and enhancements. For example, many of the programs now accept multiple sequences as input [2], and most produce output that makes better use of colour [3]. The Sequence Manipulation Suite 2 can be used to perform much of the simple sequence formatting and analysis done in molecular biology labs, and as a teaching aid when introducing students to DNA and protein sequences. Written in JavaScript 1.5, it makes better use of JavaScript's object handling capabilities, and incorporates several new features recently added to the language. The Sequence Manipulation Suite 2 can run in several current web browsers, including Mozilla 1.2.1 (Linux), Netscape 7.1 (Windows), Internet Explorer 6.0 (Windows), and Netscape 7.1 (Mac).
