BACKGROUND
An exciting opportunity for a research and teaching career is offered within in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Monash University, Melbourne Australia. The Department wishes to appoint a person with a PhD in a relevant discipline and having an international research track record in the area of structural biology / bioinformatics. The Department has several highly successful research groups in different fields funded by NH&MRC and ARC as well as commercial and other sources. As part of the School of Biomedical Sciences the Department is part of a rapidly expanding node of research excellence and has ready access to the latest technology in biomedical research, including imaging facilities, all aspects of DNA technology and structural biology. The Department teaches undergraduate students in biomedical science, science and in the new five year medical curriculum and has very strong Honours and postgraduate research training programs.REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will have postdoctoral experience and proven ability, or demonstrable potential, to obtain national competitive peer reviewed research grants in an active area of structural biology / bioinformatics of their choice. Opportunities will exist for the appointee to forge collaborations with members of the Victorian Bioinformatics Consortium based at Monash Clayton. The appointee will be expected to develop a successful, externally funded research program involving postgraduate research teaching and to be actively involved in the development, teaching and coordination of undergraduate units for which the department is responsible, especially in the areas of molecular bioinformatics / structural biology and molecular biology. The appointee?s teaching is anticipated to focus on the use of informatics-based tools for deriving new biomolecular insights from gene and protein sequences and expression profiles.TERMS
