DESCRIPTION
The nucleic acid microarray group at the National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology are looking to recruit a Bioinformatician.
The NICB (http://www.nicb.dcu.ie) is a multidisciplinary centre of research excellence, based at Dublin City University, Ireland. The Institute brings together Biologists, Biotechnologists, Chemists, Computer Scientists, and experts in Bioscience Communication.
There are research programmes in the areas of:
- Cellular Differentiation
- Cancer Cell Biology and Drug Resistance
- Biosciences and Society
- Computer Modelling
- Cell Therapy for Diabetes
- Microbial Pathogenicity
- Functional Genomics
- Fermentation
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have at least 3 years of postgraduate bioinformatics research experience. A PhD in a relevant discipline is desirable. The successful candidate will be employed on several different microarray projects, analysing data, co-ordinating data mining and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
> Computer Skills required: database experience (maintenance and construction), programming (e.g. BioPerl), data archival and security.
> Bioinformatics Skills required: significant experience with common methods of analysis of microarray data, biostatistics and data mining (pathway/ontology work and novel sequence analysis). Proteomics bioinformatics knowledge would be an advantage.HOW TO APPLY
Please send your CV, names and e-mail addresses of 3 scientific referees, publication list and any other relevant information to nicb[at]dcu.ie
