Associate Scientist, Computational Biology
BACKGROUND:
The company is a Boston biotech organization involved in the drug discovery, development, and commercialization of a unique class of therapeutics using a proprietary technology system. They systematically examine hundreds of thousands of compound combinations to identify synergistic pairs that can be optimized to provide novel combination therapeutics. They are seeking an Associate Computational Biologist who will report directly to the Team Leader of the Computational Biology Department. Individual will be working with a team of about six individuals. The associate scientist will assist in their statistical analyses of experimental data. In addition, their responsibilities will involve software tool development to improve the drug screening process of the company. The position offers an opportunity to apply analytical skills to cutting-edge pharmaceutical techniques.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform analyses on large sets of drug combination screening data.
- Prototype computational methods and help incorporate them into informatics tools.
- Assist the development and execution of biological pathway models.
- Assess drug- screening platform and improve the protocols and procedures to increase data quality, information tracking, and throughput.
- Identify problems with data handling software and correct bugs when found.
- Maintain and improve machine control software.
