BACKGROUND

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations is seeking a senior level biostatistician/statistician with strong project management and communication skills, and a passion for quality improvement, to oversee the statistical unit in its Division of Research. The Joint Commission is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1951, whose mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Director, Statistical position is integral to the Joint Commission's mission and will be a core part of the Division's management team. This individual will direct and conduct statistical and SAS programming activities related to a national comparative performance measurement database used in accreditation and externally funded research projects; mentor staff; serve as faculty for surveyor and other educational programs as appropriate; and represent the Joint Commission as liaison to various professional organizations.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates should hold a Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, health services research or related field, and possess seven to ten years experience in health care-related analytic activities and/or research, and synthesize complex research and evaluation activies; a solid understanding of the issues surrounding performance measurement data and reporting; experience with risk adjustment methodology; strong theoretical skillls to develop statstical models and conduct data analysis; knowledge of SAS programming and effective interpersonal skills to interact with individuals in politically sensitive situations.
