There is an immediate opening for a bioinformatics specialist in the KSU Bioinformatics Center (http://www.bioinformatics.ksu.edu/web/index.htm) supported by the NIH KINBRE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This person will collaborate with faculty scientists in the application of bioinformatics/computational biology to basic biological research. Additional responsibilities include teaching bioinformatics and leading workshops. The initial appointment will be at the senior research associate level with the potential for promotion to research assistant professor.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements include a Ph.D. and demonstrated accomplishments in bioinformatics or computational biology, or in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or developmental genetics with a bioinformatics emphasis. Research experience at the postdoctoral level (or equivalent) in bioinformatics/computational biology is preferred. Relevant interests include: proteomics, genomics, gene expression analysis, machine learning and database mining, relational databases, molecular modeling, algorithm analysis and design, procedural and object-oriented software-development. Current projects include development of web-accessible databases for the Tribolium genome project and lipidomics.
