Postdoctoral Fellows and/or Professional Research Assistants in Biomedical Language Processing, Knowledge-based systems and Semantic Web technology.
The Hunter lab at the Center for Computational Pharmacology at University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks applicants for full-time research positions related to a recent NIH grant to do technology development for biomedical knowledge-bases.
The project involves information extraction from biomedical texts and the creation and use of a molecular biology knowledge-base derived from that information.REQUIREMENTS
Postdoctoral fellowship applicants should have research experience in bioinformatics, and PRA applicants must have significant programming experience and a working knowledge of molecular biology. For all applicants, the following areas will be used in assessing candidates:
- Familiarity with the Gene Ontology, and other Open Biological Ontology projects.
- Natural language processing experience, particularly knowledge-based NLP.
- Machine learning experience, particularly as related to statistical natural language processing.
- Knowledge representation and reasoning experience, particularly using Protege or similar frame-based systems.
- Familarity with Semantic Web concepts and applications
- Programming skills, particularly in Java and Common Lisp.
