DESCRIPTION

The Biological Sciences Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR position in bioinformatics, beginning September 2005.

REQUIREMENTS

Consideration is given to candidates who combine modern experimental and computational tools in genomics and/or proteomics to address basic biological questions. A Ph.D. in bioinformatics or related field is required. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate will have the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching, and for developing an externally-funded research program that will involve undergraduate and Master's students. Teaching responsibilities will include a bioinformatics course, contributions to introductory biology courses and other undergraduate courses related to the individual's area of expertise, and the development of additional specialty courses. Research collaborations are encouraged within the department and with members of a newly-established interdisciplinary program in bioinformatics that includes faculty members from biology, chemistry, and computer science. Access to a high-performance computing facility is available. Cal Poly Pomona is a comprehensive Master's level university with a diverse student body.
