Post-doctoral position in Bioinformatics at the Gen*NY*sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics, State University of New York at Albany.

DESCRIPTION

A post-doctoral position in bioinformatics is available immediately in the Laboratory for Computational Genomics, Gen*NY*sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics. Available projects include development of computational tools for genomic and proteomic data-mining and application of these tools to study and predict functional sites and motifs in proteins, protein-protein interactions, and sequence motifs involved in gene regulation. A successful candidate will be using state-of-the-art computational facilities that include high-performance 64-bit 64-processor IBM cluster and 64-bit Dell servers.

REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (computer science, math, physics, etc.) or a Ph.D. in a life science discipline with demonstrated bioinformatics experience. A successful candidate should have strong programming skills in such languages as Perl and/or C/C++. Any previous experience related to the application of computational and statistical methods to biomedical research is a big plus.
