BACKGROUND
Zymeworks Inc., a Vancouver based Biotech/IT company developing predictive technology for protein engineering is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill a research scientist position in the area of molecular simulations and physics. This position is available in January of 2005.
As a recently established company, we are looking for bright and motivated individuals who would like to be challenged and are enthusiastic in joining a company in the early stages of its growth towards becoming a world-class leader in protein engineering. This position requires an aptitude for ?thinking outside of the box? and applying interdisciplinary techniques to solve difficult problems and advance the state of the art of available force fields and modeling technology.

Salaries and benefits package commensurate experience and are highly competitive with industry standards.REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate level education in physics, chemistry, bioinformatics or similar field
- Minimum 3 years experience in molecular simulations or force fields for molecular simulations
- Experience in analysis of molecular modeling data and in simulation of biomolecules
- Solid understanding of basic programming and the algorithms used by molecular modeling simulations
- Familiarity with force fields such as AMBER (gaff), CHARMM and/or GROMOS
- Ability to demonstrate ?outside-of-the-box? thinking
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with programmers and other scientists
- Familiarity with software used in drug design or docking would be an asset.
- Ability to perform quantum mechanical calculations would be an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to assisting in the evolution and implementation of force fields, you will be provided with research opportunities in modeling biomolecules, which may lead to publications in scientific journal or patents. You will work closely with the molecular modeling team to guide them in the development, testing and improvement of Zymeworks? modeling software.HOW TO APPLY
