DESCRIPTION

We currently have a very challenging new need for a senior manager at our location in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Manage a team of application developers in support of Diagnostic Assay Research and Development at Nichols Institute. This high-throughput, esoteric testing facility services over 30,000 patient samples daily and conducts a wide range of diagnostic tests, many using advanced genomic and proteomic technologies. Approximately 100 new assays are developed annually by the thriving scientific R&D team. The Senior Manager will oversee the development of all necessary informatics to support the new assay development and the transition of new assays to Operations. This support will include the provision of the necessary data analysis and the development of full cycle automation and instrument interfacing in order to minimize manual intervention by laboratory personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Manager must be able to interact with Medical Scientists and Directors to understand their specific needs and to convey their visions to the R&D application development team

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of Management techniques. Knowledge of medical diagnostic instrument interfacing. Knowledge of bioinformatics tools, techniques, data structures, search algorithms, alignment tools and publicly available databases, Advanced web-based technologies, Relational databases (Oracle)Web application servers. Knowledge of JAVA, Perl, JSP, XML, XSLT

3+ years management experience in medical diagnostic industry. 5-10 years experience in medical diagnostics/bioinformatics (wet or dry science)
PhD or MD PhD in Computer Science, biological sciences, bioinformatics or related field.
