    RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a member of the Research Informatics Group, you will be responsible for the development and/or implementation of database integration projects, interface development, and maintenance of these projects. Projects will entail designing and adopting database schemas for biological and chemical databases, building loaders/parsers into relational database frameworks, performing SQL queries to retrieve information, building web interfaces to relational databases, and utilizing available tools to deliver information to biologists and chemists. Expectations also include working with research scientists to develop project ideas and to provide insight for new features on existing applications.

    REQUIREMENTS

    B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in a Life Sciences area, Chemistry, or Computer Science. Scientific training in Biology or Chemistry strongly preferred or a significant amount of scientific software development experience in the BioPharma industry. Extensive experience in designing and developing biological or chemical informatics systems. Experience in relational database application programming with extensive knowledge of system design and query optimization. Familiar with Oracle development environments including SQL and PL/SQL, and application development invironments such as Cold Fusion.Fluency in several of the following: Java (JDBC), Perl, MySQL, XML, Unix shell scripting, C/C++. Experience with bioinformatics databases and applications such as GenBank, SwissProt, LocusLink, Unigene, OMIM, PubMed, EMBL, KEGG, PDB, and Spotfire. Also desire some knowledge about MDL (ISIS) and IDBS (ActivityBase, AIM). Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
