State University of New York at Albany ? Postdoctoral position in Bioinformatics

A post-doctoral position in bioinformatics is available immediately in the Gen*NY*Sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics. Research interests include development of computational tools for pattern recognition, data-mining, reconstruction of metabolic pathways and statistical analysis of proteomic and genomic data.

Excellent computational facilities are available including Power4 8 node, 8-way (64 CPU) IBM cluster and 64-bit Intel Xeon Dell servers. The new Gen*NY*Sis Center is located adjacent to downtown Albany, in New York?s Capital Region, which offers an excellent quality of life, and is convenient to New York City, Boston, and major recreational areas. REQUIREMENTS

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in computer science, biostatistics or in life sciences with sufficient quantitative training. The candidate will have strong programming skills in Perl and C/C++ with demonstrated experience in bioinformatics data analysis. Preference will be given to candidates with previous post-doctoral experience in the development of computational and/or statistical methods related to biomedical research.
