A number of new features were added since the launch of Reactome on June 2, 2004. The Reactome SkyPainter tool allows the overlay of protein and gene identifiers on the reaction map. SkyPainter2 also lets users visualize microarray expression data, including time series data. Two stand-alone Java applications used for Reactome data entry were made available for download. The Reactome author tool is designed for biologists to input data into Reactome, while the curator tool is meant for use by curators to annotate biological pathways based on the Reactome schema. Human reactions in Reactome can now be downloaded in SBML format. Also, SBML version of Reactome events is available at the bottom of each event page.

In addition, Reactome data for H. sapiens is also available in a tab-delimited format for bioinformatics analysis, as well as for import into PSI-MI. Two more data releases since June 2004 added the following modules to the database: Apoptosis, Hemostasis, DNA Damage Reversal, Elongation and Termination of Transcription for RNA Polymerases II and III, Transcription Activation by E2F in the G1/S Transition of the Cell Cycle, Processing of Intronless mRNAs. We disseminate news via RSS news feeds, so news aggregators can access them automatically.
