Damir Zucic, author of the free, open source molecular visualization program 'Garlic' has compiled a list of freely available molecular visualization programs for Unix/Linux. Included also are the library dependencies (very handy!) and a small description for each program. Some programs (like Garlic) are GPL'd, others have more restrictive licensing, but all are free for personal and academic use. Definitely worth a look!
