BACKGROUND
Wyeth Research islooking for a highly experienced Staff or Principal Scientist candidate for the Bioinformatics Core Sciences group in Biological Technology. This position is located in our Cambridge, MA campus.RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will work primarily on projects related to Molecular Profiling and Biomarker Discovery, to facilitate the discovery and validation of Therapeutic Targets and Biomarkers, as well as to assist Translational Medicine projects. In addition to support individual analysis projects in a timely fashion, the candidate is expected to develop novel algorithms and software tools for analyzing, annotating, and integrating results from different platforms: including Affymetrix GeneChip data (internal and external), Proteomic Mass Spectrometry data, RNAi screen and High Content Screening results. The candidate is also expected to systematically mine existing informational sources such as transcriptional profiling databases, internal and external experimentation results, and biomedical literature to identify and support relevant Biomarkers for therapeutically relevant disease models.REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have a PhD in Molecular/Cell Biology or Genetics with at least 3 years of postdoc experience, and a working experience in Bioinformatics and Expression Profiling, with demonstrated capabilities in statistical modeling and data analysis. Knowledge or training in systems biology would be a plus. The candidate must also be familiar with other Bioinformatics tools and databases for sequence and structural analysis, as well as be familiar with relational database design and proficient with computational programming in common scripting languages, such as Java, perl or python. Demonstrated programming capability in R and/or S-PLUS is a must. Additional familiarity with other statistical tools, such as SAS, JMP, or MatLab, is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communicational skills are required.
