    Immediate opening within a new Process Sciences department.

    BACKGROUND

    This is a unique opportunity for an individual with strong technical skills in automation and instrumentation to develop a manufacturing systems group focusing on instrumentation technologies and processes for personalized medicine of antibody-based cancer vaccines.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Engineer will be responsible for developing instrumentation and robotics within Process Sciences for use in production. He/she will have the opportunity to build a manufacturing systems group to be established within Process Sciences.

    Reporting to the Vice President of Process Sciences, this individual will have responsibility for optimizing existing instrumentation and developing new instrumentation, sample tracking (bar coding) and data collection technologies for personalized medicine processes. In order to effectively design and implement robotic instrumentation to automate process operations and assays, the engineer will work closely with other Process Sciences groups, particularly molecular biology, cell culture, purification, and analytical methods development.

    He/she will be responsible for the efficient and collaborative transfer of instrumentation and automation to, and successful implementation by, the Manufacturing and Quality Control groups.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate should have a minimum of ten years of combined industrial experience in instrumentation and automation in support of manufacturing processes. Requirements include MS/BS in engineering or equivalent, Ph.D. preferred.

    The candidate must have familiarity with cGMP processes and associated equipment, and experience supporting validation efforts related to instrumentation for biologics manufacturing processes.
    • **A flexible approach to automation and instrumentation and a significant collaborative approach is highly desirable to address the unique challenge of delivering a personalized medicine antibody product. This candidate must have effective communication, oral and written skills, in a multi-disciplinary, project-driven work environment.
