The HUSAR Bioinformatics Lab (http://genome.dkfz-heidelberg.de) in the Department of Molecular Biophysics at the German Cancer Research Center (located in Heidelberg in Germany) is looking for a PhD student.

BACKGROUND:
Alternative splicing is differentially associated with specific tissues or types of cancer. The exonization of Alu elements is a system to create new exons in the human genome.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The development af a bioinformatics task for high throughput analysis of genomic DNA to screen for Alu elements and the application of the task for predicting the effect of point mutations in cancer predisposition genes.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a person with a diploma in Biology, Bioinformatics, Informatics or similar, who has some experience in molecular biology and bioinformatics data analysis. Knowledge in Unix and in a programming language like Perl would be an advantage.
