    ABOUT US:

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The individual who fills this position will apply his or her knowledge to strategic and tactical issues in the general area of gene suppression and bioinformatics. Specific projects include gene suppression bioinformatics analysis through hands on programming, as well as evaluating external software packages and integrating them into an in-house environment. He or she will contribute to and drive strategies for gene suppression bioinformatics using a variety of information sources.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Educational requirements include a Ph.D., or M.S. degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or other related discipline. Experience in a research, agricultural, biotech or drug discovery environment specializing in high throughput genomics is highly desirable. Candidates for this position must be knowledgeable and skillful in Perl programming (Java or C a plus). Linux and Solaris experience is required, as well as Oracle and database access methods. Expert use of biological sequence databases is required, as well as in depth knowledge of the bioinformatics analysis. Preference will be given to candidates with significant previous experience in the production and application of bioinformatics tools within the area of gene suppression. Candidates must have significant scientific programming and algorithm development experience in one or more of the following areas: dsRNA functional bioinformatics, high-throughput analysis and/or sequence analysis.
