BACKGROUND

MSD is an employee-owned company of over 550 professionals who support the diverse technical, scientific, and administrative needs of the Federal government. We are currently searching for an experienced Programmer Analyst to support one of our clients at the National Institutes of Health. This opportunity is permanent, full-time, and on site in Bethesda/Rockville, MD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Software developer and data analyst will join the Bioinformatics team. Located in Maryland, you will provide sequencing, genotyping, and haplotyping services and technologies for research studies. The employee will work on genetic data analysis and bioinformatics tool development projects as we develop an AIMS (Analytical Information Management System) to do genetics and haplotype analysis. The employee will develop new applications through user consultation and requirements analysis, will design and develop data models and databases, and will provide analytical support to research scientists.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience with Unix, Javascript, Perl, experience with a LIMS system (LabVantage Sapphire preferred), Business Objects(TM), Web development technologies(ColdFusion). Bioinformatics skills in biostatistics, genetic analysis, sequence analysis, genomics, data mining, lab instrument interfaces, robotics.

Must Haves:
Possession of a Bachelors degree in biomedical science/math/computer related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent. Masters degree in computer science, genetics, or biostatistics are desirable. Minimum 4 years experience in software development for bioinformatics or genetics. Programming skills: Java, JSP, J2EE, SQL, Oracle, XML, SVG. Familiarity with bioinformatics databases and tools.
