The Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CE&B) in the Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, is seeking outstanding applicants for a Special (three-year renewable) faculty position in biostatistics. Qualifications include an appropriate degree in biostatistics and experience in the design, execution, statistical analysis, presentation and reporting of large, multi-centred clinical trials. Experience in the areas of cardiovascular disease, hemostasis, thrombosis, and oncology is preferred. Some experience working with industry, including current familiarity with regulatory and funding agency procedures and requirements, is considered an asset. A strong track record of collegiality and collaboration and strong communication and interpersonal skills are prerequisites for this position.
The successful applicant will be based at the Clinical Trials Methodology Group (CTMG), directed by Dr. Mark Levine, at the Henderson Research Centre. The CTMG ? consisting of methodologists, statisticians, clinical researchers and research staff ? carries out trials with patients with cardiovascular disease, venous thromboembolic disease, cancer, and other health problems. It collaborates with other McMaster Faculty of Health Sciences colleagues, industry, other institutions, and government. CTMG researchers conceive, design, organize, manage, analyze, and publish clinical trials. They conduct phase 2 and phase 3 trials ranging in size from 50 ? 15,000 patients through clinical centres world-wide. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the highly respected and growing CTMG research program by providing scientific leadership in the design, execution and analysis of current and future studies as a member of a collaborative team. He/she will also provide general consultative support to other health researchers in the McMaster system, particularly those located at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and the Hamilton Health Sciences - Henderson Hospital.
The successful applicant will be a regular contributor to teaching and supervision in the MSc/PhD Health Research Methodology Program, the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program or in other educational programs at McMaster.
