    BACKGROUND

    A postdoc opening is available in bioinformatics lab at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), http://proteomics.bioengr.uic.edu. The position will be supported by an NIH training grant: Cardiovascular therapeutic research (PI: John Solaro). The applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident. The theoretical/computational research and method development will be conducted under professor Hui Lu in bioinformatics program. The application will be in close collaboration with professor John Solaro's cardiac muscle contraction lab on protein kinase, triponin, Z-disc proteins, and related muscle proteins. Research topics include protein structure prediction, protein interaction modeling, phylogenetic tree analysis, structure based function annotation, gene regulation. The methods used include one or several of the followings: homology modeling, statistical analysis, docking, molecular dynamics, computational geometry, and machine learning.
