RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff member sought to assist in the development and maintenance of web and database software associated with the malaria parasite genome database, PlasmoDB (http://PlasmoDB.org). Primary responsibilities include loading large bioinformatics datasets in an Oracle database; designing and implementing features, and developing software to access these datasets; testing software extensively and providing quality assurance. Additional duties may include web-interface design and implementation, development of graphical display tools; design and implementation of computational tools for bioinformatics research. Ample opportunity for particpation in computational biology research for suitably motivated individual.

REQUIREMENTS

Masters degree in relevant field or equivalent experience. At least two years professional experience developing software, preferably using source code control. Good communication skills; ability to work as a team member with diverse professionals in an academic environment. Programming expertise in Perl, Java, SQL, XML, HTML; strong familiarity with Unix / Linux. Experience in using relational databases. Interest in biological applications.
