DESCRIPTION

A post-doctoral position is available at the Center for Comparative Genomics and Bioinformatics located at the Pennsylvania State University. We are seeking an individual with experience and enthusiasm in the fields of microbial genomics and genome evolution.

Our group, located on the 3rd floor of Wartik Laboratories, is currently creating a facility for massive parallel sequencing, using a novel bead-based sequencing technology. For the analysis of data resulting from resequencing projects, we would like to welcome a new team member with an understanding of current genome assembly and annotation techniques. The successful candidate is expected to develop new tools for the genomic comparison of multiple genomes, as well as new computational approaches to resequencing. He/she is also expected to contribute to setting up and administrating a multi node compute cluster. Ideal candidates will have a background in scripting languages (Perl) and UNIX/Linux.

REQUIREMENTS

Applications will be considered from individuals with training in life sciences and/or bioinformatics.
