    Scientific Data Analyst

    The Computational Genomics Core, NHGRI, NIH, is looking for a detail-oriented scientific data analyst to assist in the implementation of a Web-based relational database in clinical research settings. The successful applicant will provide support and training to database users, work directly with database developers to address problems and make enhancement requests, and play a key role in gap analysis and the mapping of legacy data. The successful applicant will also be involved in formulating new design requirements with end-users and developers. A Level 5 Minimum Background Investigation clearance must be obtained.

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor?s/Master?s degree in biology or a related field

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Demonstrated knowledge of human molecular genetics
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English
    • Proven critical-thinking and demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret biological experimental data
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a cooperative service-oriented attitude

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience using Macintosh OS X operating system
    • Knowledge of relational database structure and terminology
    • Laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry

    HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL ALSO POSSESS

    • Laboratory or clinical research experience in human molecular genetics
    • Experience using Structured Querying Language
