    ABOUT US:

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The individual who fills this position will apply his or her knowledge to provide researcher-oriented bioinformatics solutions to enable or improve genomic data analysis, integration and access. Essential functions include building web-enabled tools and process pipelines for analysis, annotation and engineering of biological sequences; creating custom automation solutions for integrating and mining experimental data; maintaining existing bioinformatics tools to ensure data currency and use of the most up-to-date algorithms and computing environments. Specific projects include genome data analysis and consolidation, functional homologue discovery, integration of functional genomic data, and integration of tools for sequence analysis and manipulation. He or she will contribute to and drive strategies for providing researchers with smart tools for deriving knowledge out of complex data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates for this position must be highly experienced in Perl programming (3+ years) and web applications development (JavaScript required, Java and Flash are a considerable plus). Linux and Solaris experience is required, as well as Oracle and database access methods. Expert use of biological sequence databases is required, and applications of available tools. Candidates must have significant scientific programming and algorithm development experience in one or more of the following areas: sequence analysis, high-throughput analysis, and protein computational biology. Educational requirements include a Ph.D., or M.S. or equivalent in Biology, Bioinformatics, or Computer Science. Experience in a research, agricultural, biotech or drug discovery environment specializing in high throughput genomics is highly desirable.
