The Biostatistician for the Stanford/Packard Center for Translational Medicine (SPCTRM) is a new position in an evolving Dean?s Office organization and will provide consultative and analytical support to School of Medicine faculty and postdoctoral fellows in developing and carrying out methodologically and statistically sound clinical research studies. This position functions as an independent consultant, reporting to the SPCTRM Medical Director.REQUIREMENTS
Masters or PhD in statistics, biostatistics or related field, or Ph.D. in a clinical research field with 3 to 5 years experience in analysis of clinical or pharmacological data. Computer skills to carry the analysis to completion as needed. Proficiency in PC-SAS and an S-dialect necessary, including ordinary least squares and logistic regression, survival analysis, and contingency table methods preferred. Facility with CART, clustering algorithms, microarray analysis, resampling methods, and longitudinal modeling desirable. Proficient utilization of, and interface between, multiple databases and different software programs. Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of a clinical research project, including study design, data collection, data dictionary documentation, quality assurance, statistical analysis procedures, data base management. Effective written and oral English communication skills; must be able to explain methods and statistical analyses and approaches to researchers at varying levels of expertise, and to understand the needs of the clinical investigator in enough detail to plan appropriate designs and analyses. Keen interest in working with a variety of clinical investigators on a broad range of topics.
