POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN BIOINFORMATICS

One position is available for an experienced computer programmer to develop novel software tools and techniques for analysis of protein sequences, structures and protein-ligand complexes, and structure prediction and modeling based on low-resolution experimental data. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wish to join an interdisciplinary team that brings together computer science, bioinformatics, and experimental molecular biology.
This post is initially offered for three years after which it is expected that the candidate will seek independent support. We offer a contract within the E.U. 6th Framework Programme Marie Curie Research and Training Network grant, starting 2006. The position is open to a researcher, who has not lived in Poland for at least four of the last five years. Citizenship of one of the E.U. member countries would convey an advantage.REQUIREMENTS
You should have a PhD in computer science, bioinformatics or other related area (e.g. chemistry, biology, physics), and extensive knowledge and experience with programming, in particular in Python. Experience with bioinformatics and/or protein sequence/structure analysis, ability to program in Perl or C++ and a familiarity with relational databases would convey a significant advantage.RESPONSIBILITIES
You will supervise a group of Ph.D. students and extensively collaborate with other members of the group. You will spend several weeks per year on a short research fellowship with one of the collaborating groups in another country within the E.U. You should have strong communication skills and enjoy working in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The aim of the program is to prepare postdoctoral fellows for careers as independent academic scientists in an interdisciplinary environment of computational and experimental molecular biology.HOW TO APPLY
