BACKGROUND
Exelixis Plant Sciences (EPS), based in Portland, Oregon is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exelixis, Inc. EPS is dedicated to the discovery and production of high value products for improved nutrition and health.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Informatics Research Scientist will work with department and program leaders to design, improve and develop databases and informatics tools for all projects at EPS. The employee will be required to work with other informatics scientists to plan, design, and code informatics software programs and tools and will be expected to develop, evaluate, optimize and implement new technologies and methodologies to meet goals and objectives at EPS. The ability to analyze and interpret data; troubleshoot problems and propose solutions is required. The employee will be expected to prepare and organize data for presentation or reports and to maintain familiarity with current scientific and technical literature relevant to the research experiments or programs. The employee is expected to maintain a laboratory notebook in a complete, consistent and concise manner in accordance with company intellectual property policies and practices and to comply with company health and safety policies and practices.REQUIREMENTS
- Doctoral degree (PhD) or a minimum of two years relevant experience
- Experience programming in multiple programming languages and working familiarity with several others
- Experience with database design
- Experience analyzing genetic, chemical, and/or biological data
