BACKGROUND

The Biology Department at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2006.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary teaching responsibility of the third position will be courses relating techniques of mathematical modeling to ecological or molecular biology problems. The ideal candidate for this position will have research interests in landscape ecology, resource management, population biology, bioinformatics, molecular data mining or a related field.

The ability to teach introductory level courses for biology majors and non-majors is expected for all three positions, as is the ability to develop additional courses in the candidateâ??s area of expertise

REQUIREMENTS

a Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related field. Applicants with postdoctoral research and college teaching experience, as well as a record of publications and the ability to acquire external funding will be given preference.
