BACKGROUND

We would like to bring to the attention of all qualified members of Bioinformatics community that we are looking for an experienced Applications and System Manager to join our Bioinformatics Group. We are a well and privately funded company based in Northern Ireland and we are looking for the top quality people, both with experience and with potential, to support our rapid expansion in areas of genomics services and development of array based diagnostics for cancer. RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Applications and System Manager you will be responsible for the stability, adequate performance and correct use of ArraDx Bioinformatics software applications and UNIX based systems. Furthermore, ensuring integrity, security and tracebility of the data used and generated by the company will be your primary objective. In addition, you will also deputise for supervisors/managers when interacting with external software/hardware providers and contractors.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have a post graduate qualification in Bioinformatics or a primary degree in computer science with a minimum of 3 years experience in Bioinformatics and systems management experience. Extensive experience of working in both MS Windows and UNIX environments is required and UNIX system administration experience would be preferable. Experience of training users and documentation of applications, systems and training is highly desirable. Previous experience in preparing hardware specifications and user requirement gathering and documenting is essential. Good organisational and administrative abilities are critical. The candidate should also have experience in leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and possess excellent communication skills.

TERMS:
Permanent contract (subject to pobation)

COMPENSATION:
Salary will commensurate with experience and accomplishments and will include 33.5 days holiday per year (including statutory days), company pension scheme, enhanced sick pay and maternity entitlements, healthcare plan and opportunities for learning and development.
