    BACKGROUND:
    Translational Research Architect
    An Information Systems and Biomedical Informatics Faculty Appointment

    The Ohio State University Medical Center is currently seeking a Translational Research Informatics Architect to join our growing team. This new and unique position offers the exciting opportunity to dramatically impact research efforts at OSU Medical Center and to help us realize our core mission of creating the future of medicine to improve people's lives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    As the Translational Research Architect, the candidate will:
    • Take a lead role in designing an enterprise information architecture that dynamically facilitates translational research through integration across all sectors of the medical center: clinical care, operations, education, and research.
    • Serve as a tenure- or research-track faculty member, as well as publish and participate in and develop informatics-related proposals.
    • Serve as a member of both the Information Warehouse and Biomedical Informatics teams and coordinate the application of each department's resources to best meet the needs of specific research projects.
    • Pursue the development or adoption of new informatics technologies in areas such as grid computing, image analysis and mining, high throughput genomics data analysis and natural language processing.
    • Work closely with researchers to develop viable conclusions by formulating informatics and analysis strategies that develop new solutions or leverage existing assets.

    REQUIREMENTS

    M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D. in a biomedical field
    At least one year of research experience.

    PREFERENCES

    Experience with the following technologies and techniques is desirable:
    • bioinformatics software development
    • data warehousing and data mining techniques
    • application analysis and design methodologies
    • object-oriented programming
    • statistical analysis if scientific data
    Familiarity with HIPAA regulation and privacy protection requirements is recommended.
