BACKGROUND
The Bioinformatics Integration Networks (BIN-II) is a research initiative funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture within the GEN-AU Programme. It brings together scientists from seven bioinformatics laboratories which organize an International PhD programme in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and promote interdisciplinary researches. The successful applicant will work in a stimulating scientific environment at the Structural Biology group of the Department of Biomolecular Structural Chemistry, a member of Max F. Perutz Laboratories - University Departments at the Vienna Biocenter, University of Vienna. The Department is equipped with up-to-date computational facilities and has additionally access to the facilities of the other BIN-II laboratories.RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate is expected to develop new strategies to evaluate the degree of similarity between three-dimensional macromolecular structures, which should be sufficiently fast to scan large databases and allow automated classifications.TERMS

In addition to a PhD in a relevant area, experience in computer science or bioinformatics is required.HOW TO APPLY
