Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICIAN position @ SBRI--Seattle WA (US)

BACKGROUND:
Nearly 200 scientists and staff members strive to combat global infectious disease each day at Seattle Biomedical Research Institute (SBRI). By combining science and imagination, it is our goal to conquer the diseases (such as malaria, HIV) that are responsible for the majority of deaths worldwide. SBRI (http://www.sbri.org) is an independent, non-profit research institute that is affiliated with the University of Washington.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A bioinformatics scientist is wanted to join a dynamic research team with laboratories in Seattle and Tanzania that is developing vaccines against malaria. The ideal candidate will be familiar with microarray analysis, comparative genomics, and common bioinformatics software tools, and able to collaborate with molecular biologist and clinical researchers.

REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates with a Ph.D. or an equivalent in Biostatistics or Life Sciences such as biochemistry, biology, genetics, and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Qualifications include but are not limited to: solid knowledge on sequence analysis methods and tools, hands-on experience with microarray and proteomics data analysis, use of statistical methods and tools to analyze biological or clinical data, use of survival analysis and GEE model to analyze longitude clinical data set, and training graduate students in the field of Bioinformatics.

LOCALE:
SBRI occupies a brand new research facility that is in a fast-developing biotechnology hub in the South Lake Union area of Seattle. This area is home to many research organizations on the forefront of life sciences research.
