RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include the maintainence and further development of a web portal that will support the operations of a multi-technology Service Center Facility. Primarily the portal consists of a comprehensive Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that allows for the collection, processing and dissemination of data as well as tracking of experimental materials and methods within the facility. Various software tools, such as Agilent's GeNet, GeneSpring, Applied Biosystem's GeneMapper and other analysis software, with key server or web based operations architecture must be maintained and updated. The successful candidate will collaborate with other members of the facility to develop and implement web interfaces for interacting with data, utilizing existing software components as available and implementing new ones as needed. The candidate will work closely with scientists and other informatics team members to design applications using modern enterprise-class software development platforms in a web-based environment.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science and at least 3 years of experience in software development, particularly in the area of web development (e.g. JSP, PHP, ASP.NET) have experience with XML and XSL, as well as experience interfacing with relational databases such as Oracle (PL/SQL) or MySQL. Candidate should be comfortable with programming for Windows environments. Candidate must be familiar with best practices and product development lifecycle processes. Candidate will ideally have prior experience in building web-based systems in a healthcare or research environment.
