BOSTON COLLEGE DESCRIPTION
The Bioinformatics/Computational Biology faculty are searching for an experienced scientific programmer for Bioinformatics algorithm development and implementation, graphical user interface and web server design, and data management. This motivated individual will work closely with both faculty and graduate students to make decisions regarding appropriate software implementation for scientific algorithms. These decisions will commonly involve issues such as how to improve efficiency, increase data processing throughput and better visualize data.REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have a Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area and 7 years of relevant programming experience, in addition to experience in Bioinformatics. Expertise in software system design, C/C++/JAVA development, CGI scripting, and data management is required.
The ideal candidate will be someone excited about contributing to cutting-edge research projects in Computational Biology. Applicants should value collaboration and teamwork while also being able to work individually and prioritize multiple projects. Funding for this position is guaranteed for two years from the date of a successful hire, with the possibility of further continuation dependant on the availability of funding.
