    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    We are searching for an enthusiastic software developer to join our technology group at BioSapiens, which is part of the Ensembl group (http://www.ensembl.org) at the EBI (http://www.ebi.ac.uk). The position will primarily be focussed on investigating new technologies and supporting existing technologies in use in BioSapiens, in particular the DAS protocol. The Ensembl group is one of the leading bioinformatics groups worldwide and as an international mix of people from both computer science and biology backgrounds. The position would be ideal for someone with strong computer skills looking to gain more expose to bioinformatics and international collaborations.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    The successful candidate will have either a degree in computer science or a related field or a biology/bioinformatics degree with extensive programming experience. (S)he should have in-depth knowledge of Perl programming, good general Unix skills and familiarity with web service technologies, SQL databases and Java programming. Experience in molecular biology, in particular proteomics, is a plus, and the successful applicant should be a team player with communication skills and the ability to interface with many people in diverse external groups.

    TERMS:
    An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
