    Nature Source Genetics is a new computational genomics company dedicated to the development and application of new algorithms designed to harness natural genetic variation in the improvement of crop plants. Located in Ithaca, New York, NSG scientists interact with a team of distinguished faculty from Cornell University and other major research institutions, in problems related to quantitative genetics, including optimization of population structure/design, QTL detection/validation, and QTL deployment in commercial breeding programs. In addition to the computational headquarters in Ithaca, NSG has access to experimental field test sites around the world.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. or M.S. degree in computer science, applied math or related disciplines
    • Experience with design and implementation of simulations, and with linear and non-linear optimization methods
    • Experience and/or training with Matlab or matrix oriented programming language
    • Basic knowledge of database software (MySQL) and experience in maintaining large datasets
    • Experience with and/or knowledge of linear, non-linear, and discrete optimization methods and models
    • Basic knowledge of genetics helpful
    • Ability to work in a group setting involving scientists both inside and outside of the company
    • Ability to plan, execute and oversee projects involving multiple collaborators
    • Ability to prepare scientific reports and presentations that clearly convey progress and challenges, and coordinate activities leading to related scientific publications, presentations, and patent filings
