Opportunity: Software Support Engineer Position at Perlegen Sciences--Mountain View, CA (US)
Submitted by Susan Becker; posted on Friday, April 28, 2006

    BACKGROUND

At Perlegen Sciences, we conduct genetics research and develop products that impact and improve peopleā??s lives. Established in March 2001, we are a well-funded, pre-IPO company engaged in exploiting ultra-high-throughput genotyping technology to unravel the genetic architecture of complex traits and bring drugs to market whose clinical development would have otherwise been discontinued. We're changing forever the way medicine is practiced. See what Perlegen can do for you.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

Our LIMS group currently has an excellent entry-level opportunity available for a recent grad to provide software and hardware support for internal lab customers and work with Software Development Engineers to resolve software defects and implement enhancements. We'll rely on you to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve LIMS database and software issues, support DTS and SQL Server maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, manage LIMS software problem reporting and communication, and monitor ChipView status and data for lab customers. You will also act as the primary contact for lab personnel, including QC, developers and lab users.

    REQUIREMENTS

This growth opportunity requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, 1-2 years of experience, and the ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic, large-scale data environment. Experience with SQL or a high-level programming language is essential, as are good communication skills and a clear attention to detail. An understanding of the biological fundamentals of genomics and lab processes is highly desirable.
