Verseon has developed a proprietary in silico design and medicinal chemistry platform that finally fulfills the promise of structure-based rational drug design. The Verseon solution is focused on delivering novel small molecule drugs that target unmet market needs.RESPONSIBILITIES
As an intern to the core R&D team at Verseon you will be a part of a highly collaborative and fast-paced, multi-disciplinary research environment. You will work closely with our library design team which directs our compound selection process for both virtual screens and HTS assays. Your duties will include characterization of synthetic routes of privileged fragments via reaction databases and literature searches, assembly of known drug lists, and scientific curation of virtual compound libraries. You will be expected to learn and undertake preliminary in silico physiochemical and toxicological characterization of small molecule hits. The successful candidate will also be expected to learn to use databases and tools such as Thomson Pharma, Discovery Gate, and Isis Base.REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have completed the majority of their college level chemistry curriculum with an emphasis on organic chemistry. The candidate must possess exceptional problem solving ability, and have a proactive attitude towards both computational and chemical scientific challenges. The candidate should possess basic computer skills, and must feel comfortable using computational tools and databases. Chemistry or biology lab experience is also a plus.
- Undergraduate students in Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology or related field.
- Experience in the use of chemistry and/or drug discovery tools or databases a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- An open mind with the courage to question conventional thinking and take on challenges.
