BACKGROUND

Siemens Corporate Technology, department for Integrated Data Systems (CT SE SCR 2), is looking for a researcher in the area of Machine Learning. We are participating in the European research project Health-e-Child. The focus of Health-e-Child is on vertically integrated data (genetics, proteomics, imaging, clinical, epidemiological), making this data available across hospitals, and assisting the physicians with novel clinical applications with a focus on decision support systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position you will be conducting leading-edge research and prototyping of medical decision support and knowledge discovery applications. In the context of Health-e-Child, you will be working with European research institutes on machine learning techniques. You will be reasoning with medical patient data, including inference/reasoning from incomplete and structured data, automatically extract patterns from large amounts of numeric and symbolic data, combine imaging and clinical information, and other related areas.
Additional areas of interest include feature extraction, data mining, pattern recognition, text mining, information retrieval, predictive modeling, time-series analysis and forecasting.

REQUIREMENTS

We will preferably consider candidates holding a Ph.D. in CS, EE or related fields with a strong, proven record in problem solving and research (leading journal and conference publications).
The candidate should have advanced knowledge of statistical learning approaches like Bayesian learning, boosting, and statistical partitioning.
In addition, candidates should have C/C++ or Java proficiency on MS Windows platform.
