    ABOUT US:
    The Institute for Genomic Research (â??TIGRâ??) located in Rockville, MD, is a not-for-profit research center dedicated to deciphering and analyzing genomes.

    DESCRIPTION:
    The Bioinformatics Engineer II is responsible for a wide range of technical tasks involving the creation and use of software for the display and analysis of biological data. Responsibilities include: development and maintenance of software pipelines and visualization tools for genomic annotation and analysis, application of biological knowledge to data analysis and algorithm development, maintenance of in-house databases for genome data management., and general annotation support.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Position requires strong grounding in both biological sciences and computer science. Bachelorâ??s degree in a biological discipline and 3 years experience in bioinformatics software development, solid knowledge of Perl, SQL, HTML, CGI, relational databases, and Unix shell scripting required. Additional requirements include: programming skills including C/C++ and/or Java.
