BACKGROUND

A bioinformatics scientist is wanted to join a dynamic research team with laboratories in Seattle and Tanzania that is developing vaccines against malaria.

SBRI occupies a new research facility that is in a fast developing Biotechnology hub in the South Lake Union area of Seattle that is home to many research organizations on the forefront of life sciences research. RESPONSIBILITIES

This scientist will interact extensively with biologists developing vaccines, will develop tools in support of ongoing functional genomics studies, and will lead efforts to integrate data from private and public databases to identify vaccine candidates.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates with a Ph.D. or an equivalent in Biostatistics or Life Sciences such as biochemistry, biology, genetics, and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be familiar with microarray data analysis, proteomics data analysis, comparative genomics, and common bioinformatics software tools, and able to collaborate with molecular biologist and clinical researchers.

Qualifications include but are not limited to: solid knowledge on sequence analysis methods and tools, hands-on experience with microarray and proteomics data analysis, use of statistical methods and tools to analyze functional genomic data, and training graduate students in the field of Bioinformatics.
