    The October 2006 list of distance learning courses in Bioinformatics is now available. These modules may be studied either individually, or as elements of the full MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of Manchester, UK.

    The MSc modules follow two themes, Bioinformatics and Computer Science. The Bioinformatics modules are:

    Introduction to Molecular Biology for Computer Scientists
    Introduction to Bioinformatics
    Introduction to Microarray Data Analysis
    Theory and Applications in Bioinformatics
    The Bioinformatics of Protein Structure
    The Science of Proteomics
    Medicinal Chemistry (provided by the University of California, San Diego)
    Molecular Modelling and Structure-based Drug Design

    The computing modules are:

    Introduction to software development using Java
    Intermediate software development using Java
    Biocomputing
    Object-oriented analysis and design with UML
    Introduction to Ontologies for the Biosciences
