RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory Bioinformaticist will be responsible for custom design and development of novel applications using bioinformatics programming techniques (datamining) to accelerate research endeavors in Molecular Ophthalmology. Job will require use of commercial and publicly available software to support internal research in functional genomics and sequence analysis. Position include working with researchers and statisticians to perform data analysis for linkage and association studies. Bioinformaticist will also be responsible for support of internal computer infrastructure within laboratory by managing lab server and tasks for automation and power computing. Additionally, this position will require assisting researchers to maximize the benefits of using power computing techniques.

REQUIREMENTS

MS in Bioinformatics or BS in Computer Science and experience in Molecular Biology. Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in Molecular Biology, Genetics; 3 - 5 years programming experience (Perl, C/C++, Java). Experience with UNIX based operating system (Solaris, Linux, etc.) Experience with common Bioinformatics tools (Sequence Alignment, Biological Databases, etc). Formal exposure to Biostatistics and/or Mathematics in Bioinformatics desired. Lab experience a plus.
